Some of our students visited the 'Remélés', one of our Intangible Cultural Heritages in Hungary in Novaj, a village in Heves county. It is a masked end-of-winter and spring-welcoming carnival in Novaj and they enjoyed their time, eating a lot of food and meeting the local people during their time there. They could experience how this custom is celebrated and they even got covered in soot. This tradition is connected with a cleaning effect: the soot represents the release from evil, disease, sadness, curses and predict a better and happy next year. :)
